Americans apparently consume over 150 pounds of sugar a year! This is equal to three pounds of sugar per week! I know what you are thinking: THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. Well, not if you realize sugar comes in many forms and in almost all packaged and processed foods and in juices, sodas, other bottled drinks, as well as, fruits and vegetables!
Obviously, I want to focus on the ‘bad for you’ sugar in your diet, not the fructose that occurs naturally in fruits and vegetables which the body has no problem breaking down and converting to energy.
The MAIN problem is HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP invented by a Japanese scientist. It made its way into the American food market in the mid-1970s because food manufacturers were not happy with the escalating prices of cane and beet sugar. By the ’80s, it was the ‘go-to’ sweetener and still is because it is considered ‘natural.’
Poison Ivy is natural but that doesn’t mean it is good for you. Unfortunately, because of the molecular structure of HFCS, it does not release leptin (tells your body you have consumed enough energy) and insulin (allows cells in the muscle, fat, and liver to absorb glucose). Simply put, it turns into glycerol which is the main component of triglycerides which turns into fat formation.
Then there is sucrose which comes in the form of table sugar, granulated cane sugar, and beet sugar which are also natural and are found in almost every manufactured food product on the planet. The combination of HFCS and sugar overload the natural digestive process causing obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and much more leading to premature death.
WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH WEDNESDAY WRINKLES? I’m glad you asked! SUGAR CAUSES PREMATURE AGING! I want to talk to you about what it does to the skin. There is a process called glycation where SUGAR breaks down and binds with protein molecules including skin collagen and elastin. This overall degradation of the protein that holds your skin together causes premature aging. So, if you have a sweet tooth, you will have more wrinkles sooner than you should!
WHAT DO YOU DO? The World Health Organization says too much sugar is more than ten percent of an individual’s daily intake and recommends only five percent (six teaspoons a day) for better health results

LEARN TO LIKE AND USE STEVIA OR MONK FRUIT FOR SWEETENING BEVERAGES AND FOR BAKING USE AGAVE, MAPLE SYRUP, OR HONEY SPARINGLY
DON’T EAT ANYTHING WITH HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP
ADD MORE NATURALLY SWEET VEGIES TO YOUR MENU: Carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, beets, onions.
SEMI-SWEET VEGIES HELP MAINTAIN BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS: Turnips, parsnips, and rutabagas
DON’T EAT PASTRIES, SWEET TREATS, CANDY, TABLE SUGAR, AND GLUTEN.
ELIMINATE PACKAGED AND PROCESSED FOODS AND EAT FRESH FOODS DAILY.
ELIMINATE FRUIT JUICES, SODAS, DIET DRINKS, SWEETENED BEVERAGES.
