Eliminate Eye Bags Without Surgery

Did you know that the skin under your eye is the thinnest skin on your body? For this reason, it is easily affected by water retention. Eye bags can happen to anyone and there is usually a reason. If you are on medications, please check the side effects for water retention.

Packaged foods usually contain too much sodium which can also affect water retention. Allergies and alcohol can also cause puffy eye bags as well.

I’m sure you have heard that Preparation H will shrink eye bags. While the Phenylephrine will shrink blood vessels, the mineral oil and other chemicals are not suited for the thinnest skin on your body.

Here are a few really good tips to reduce swelling under your eyes:

1.     Reduce fluid retention by avoiding table salt which has been chemically cleaned and reduced to sodium and chloride, an aggressive substance that alters the body’s pH. The chemicals in table salt cause weight gain, high blood pressure, and water retention. Opt for a natural salt like sea salt or Himalayan Crystal Salt (my favorite). Himalayan salt contains naturally occurring calcium, potassium, magnesium and numerous other minerals which enable and enhance the natural functioning of all cells. These salts, especially the Himalayan, tastes better so you will use less, and it doesn’t cause puffy eye bags!

2.    Get plenty of sleep because fatigue causes fluid retention. Create a ‘sleepy time routine’ like going to bed at the same time every night, turn lights down, lower the temperature, and remove all electronic devices from the bedroom. You may need to sleep elevated, If you can't afford an expensive electronic bed, try an extra pillow or put wooden blocks under your box springs at the head of the bed. Just a few degrees can make a huge difference in fluid pooling under your eye.

3.    Drink only purified or natural spring water. I recommend a Berkey Water Filter (which I sell) for de-chemicalizing tap water. For bottled water, I prefer natural spring water untouched or altered in any way like Fiji water. These perfectly structured water molecules have a natural alkaline pH. Deep below the surface, spring water absorbs the electromagnetic field of the earth which is 7.83 Hertz which is the same frequency of your body and replenishes the missing energy deficit when you are ill and out of balance. Remember, water not only brings nutrients to cells, but removes wastes and toxins that can amplify cellulite and pool under the eye. So, drink plenty of good water which is half your body weight in ounces i.e. if you weigh 100 pounds drink 50 ounces of water each day. 4.    Keep cold spoons in your ice storage bin in your freezer. Coat bottom of spoon with olive oil before placing on swollen, puffy eyes for a quick, temporary fix.

5.    Cold eye compresses filled with a type of gelatin will also temporarily reduce under eye swelling. These ‘gel masks’ are placed directly onto the skin while you lie down for 20 minutes, or until coolness has diminished.

6.    Cold tea bags will reduce swelling. Place one or two bags under each eye while sitting and tilted head back. Replace when no longer cool and repeat until swelling goes down.

7.    Cucumber slices work well, too. Peeled and halved cucumber slices work best as they mold and fit better under the eye. Place one or two halves under each eye (while reclining) for at least 20 minutes. Repeat if necessary.

FINALLY, MY BEST ADVICE IS TO TRY MY EASY TO USE CUCUMBER EYE RELIEF!!! I have done all the work for you by adding anti-inflammatory and astringent botanicals like cucumber, eyebright, and chamomile into a base of 200% Aloe Vera to create a light serum to place under or around the eye area. I’ve also added a new tetrapeptide, Eyeseryl, which dramatically reduces edema around the eyes by improving blood circulation and lymphatic flow.   A whopping 75% of the volunteers that tested this ingredient saw improvement in only 15 days. Additionally, banana leaf, ginseng, marshmallow root, fennel, coltsfoot, bladderwrack and other exotic extracts correct fluid retention in facial areas and dramatically reduces the decomposition of collagen. This fabulous serum reduces puffiness, improves skin elasticity, enhances skin texture and smoothness, and lightens under eye darkness. HOW TO USE: Simply apply a thick layer of serum under the eye (from nose almost to hair line) and on upper eye and eyelid if needed. Leave on 20 minutes and rinse. Amazingly the swelling and puffiness are GONE. Next apply Alpha Lipoic A&E Oil to entire eye area to restore lipids that reduce lines and wrinkles. I love this stuff and you will too!!!!

Thank goodness the Power Brow is gone, and hopefully the pink and purple ones and the brow jewelry too! Not sure how they are going to remove those tattooed on gigantic brows from this last decade, because brows are trending more natural and feminine now. Gone are the sharp angles, high arches, and elongated straight edges. Now it's back to a feathered, natural look that is not-so-perfect perfect. Finding your natural shape and tidying up is so much easier than the ultra groomed and unnatural slicked-up brow. I'm not a big fan of the pencil line brow or the bleached brow also hitting the runways, but I do like adding a little glow or glitter for that special party or prom.

I’m sure you have heard the term ‘fight or flight’ response. It’s a built-in reaction to stressful situation where your adrenals create gluco-corticoid hormones like cortisol and epinephrine (adrenalin) which equips you with emergency fuel and energy. Basically, this helps mobilize glucose into the bloodstream to fuel muscles for a boost of energy to respond to stressful situations rapidly! Is a bear chasing you, is your boss yelling at you, or are you in a car accident? Unfortunately, your body doesn’t know the difference. Continuing stressful scenarios keeps cortisol and adrenalin coursing through your veins causing a myriad of health and wellness issues. Constant stress prevents immune cells from responding to foreign invaders like virus, infections, and cancer cells. Not to mention, digestive issues like IBS, increased blood pressure, decreased brain function as in loss of memory, and insomnia induced fatigue, just to mention a few more stress-related issues.

Trends come and go, and I should know. I have been doing makeovers for 50 years! WOW! The 60's and 70's were the decades of glamour, when some of the most iconic beauty looks were created - winged eyeliner, red lips, and false lashes. I can't believe time flies so fast when you are having fun. We have estimated that I have done well over 10,000 makeovers and I still love helping women find that perfect look for their makeup personality. Whether you are a Makeup Diva or a Career Minimalist or a Soccer-mom Naturalist you will find one of these trends that you will like. Maybe you just might want to try them all depending on who wakes up in the morning.

Thalassotherapy is the use of the ocean’s beneficial elements (seawater, seaweed, sea muds, sea salts, etc.) for beautification, preventative, and curative purposes. Although ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans used sea water for a variety of afflictions, France is considered the birthplace of Thalassotherapy. In 1904, French biologist, Rene’ Quinton demonstrated the existence of organic similarities between sea water and blood plasma. There are now many Thalassotherapy centers along the coast of France that offer a variety of “cures” that are often prescribed by the French medical profession.
